VSI Expands Presence in Michigan, Sets Up in the PlanetM Landing Zone
Minneapolis, MN, Feb. 15, 2019 - Minnesota-based VSI Labs has announced the formation of VSI Labs Michigan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VSI Labs. The establishment of VSI Labs Michigan is anchored through the PlanetM Landing Zone, a partnership between the Detroit Regional Chamber and the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC). The new location is being headed up by Grant Faulkner, a Michigan native and VSI’s Vice President of Business Development.
According to Phil Magney, Founder and President of VSI Labs, “the establishment of VSI Labs Michigan is a natural extension of our business and puts us in closer proximity to our Michigan-based customers.” The PlanetM Landing Zone is housed at 1449 Woodward Avenue and located within the city of Detroit.
According to Magney, “Michigan has put some great incentives in place to attract mobility startups to the state. For our initial expansion we chose Michigan over Silicon Valley because it fits VSI’s culture and business philosophy, and the opportunity to engage with other companies in the autonomous vehicle technology space at the Planet M Landing Zone was too good to pass up!”
Another reason for the expansion is access to Michigan’s test facilities for autonomous vehicles. VSI Labs has conducted many tests and demonstrations with our automated vehicles at both the American Center for Mobility (ACM) in Ypsilanti and Mcity in Ann Arbor. VSI Labs is licensed, registered and insured to test and demonstrate automated vehicle functions at ACM and Mcity.
