VSI Labs and American Center for Mobility Partner on Destination ACM
Minneapolis, MN – January 27, 2020 – Following a successful launch of its Automated Drive Series last year, ADAS and automated driving research firm VSI Labs is partnering with the American Center for Mobility (ACM) to debut a new initiative, Destination ACM. Destination ACM will consist of a quarterly long-distance drive utilizing VSI’s research vehicles throughout 2021. Each drive will launch from VSI’s Minneapolis headquarters, following various driving routes to ACM, where a day of testing and demonstration will be conducted at the 500+ acre facility.
Located in Southeast Michigan, ACM is a mobility hub with a smart mobility test center supporting innovative research, testing and validation of mobility products and technologies. “VSI has leveraged ACM’s facilities and expertise extensively over the past two years. We’re looking forward to enhancing our partnership through this new series,” said Phil Magney, Founder & President of VSI.
Industry professionals will be invited to attend and experience the on-site testing and demonstrations at open-house style events. Others who are not present can watch a live vehicle feed online, broadcasted via VSI’s telemetry visualizer - a full sensor broadcast with telemetry data, classifications, and free space detections based on precise positioning, lidar, radar, and cameras.
Those in attendance will be able to learn more about ACM’s full suite of testing capabilities including simulation tools, physical facilities and test equipment, engineering services, and more about VSI and the proof of concept testing they conduct.
“ACM is the premiere destination for leading automotive and technology companies looking to test and validate their ADAS and automated driving technologies, and this project is a great demonstration of that. We are thrilled to host VSI and showcase the kind of important and highly scientific work that can be done at ACM to help move mobility technologies forward,” said Reuben Sarkar, President & CEO of ACM.
While these events will be largely in-person, the health and safety of all involved are top-of-mind. All face-to-face engagements will comply with CDC guidelines in a safe, socially distanced way, and guests will be staggered to limit large gatherings. In fact, the intimate, hands-on nature of these events may be even more valuable to guests than a traditional conference, because what they can see and learn about is so tangible.
Destination ACM will kick off in the Spring of 2021. Those interested in following along can follow VSI and ACM on LinkedIn, or learn more at https://vsi-labs.com/destination-acm/.
